DMNDR first reached out to Chop Dawg with a unique goal – they wanted to completely change the way that eCommerce works. The idea was simple: create a marketplace that gives the consumer more purchasing power by letting them request a set price for an item. If the merchant accepts, they’ve made the transaction. If not, there is the option for the merchant to give a counter offer, opening the door for negotiation. Chop Dawg was up for the challenge to execute this idea into a responsive website application.
DMNDR and Chop Dawg carefully spent time going back and forth on wireframes, high fidelities, and the product flow to precisely define the UI and UX. We needed to redesign the eCommerce experience. We had to define how the merchant-buyer relationship would look.
We also needed to design a backend that merchants would find easy to use and offered them sales analytics. Merchants would want to know how much they have done in sales, their customers, and how they have compared selling their products on DMNDR compared to a traditional outlet such as an Amazon, Jet, Walmart, etc. We created an experience that could cater to the major box store chains and the small mom-and-pop businesses alike.
Lastly, to help with the scalability of DMNDR, we had to make shopping a community experience. DMNDR users can share product listings, their demands, and browse similar product listings on the application to see similar past offers.
DMNDR leverages reusing existing customer data in multiple circumstances. For example, if you’re looking to purchase an iPhone 7 Plus, you’ll automatically be grouped with everyone on the application also looking for that product without requiring the user to make any manual inputs or requiring them to categorize the product themselves. Going one step further, having the application recognize it is an iPhone 7 Plus, and that users may want different color variations, size variations, and more. For an even more comprehensive programming challenge, we had to support the fact that new iPhones come out every year as do countless other products, and DMNDR needs the application to run automatically without dealing with inputting every new product manually. DMNDR had to organize its data, and make the experience beyond simple if it is to succeed with its ambitious goal of flipping the eComemrce market on its head.
By the end of the project, we’ve provided DMNDR with an incredible brand, a powerful and fully functioning eCommerce application, a detailed administrator backend to allow them to manage their business efficiently, and a gorgeous frontend website to match. Even after launching the DMNDR application, DMNDR has continually returned back to Chop Dawg for further work, upgrades, and additions. DMNDR has been able to take the market by storm, and become a profitable company, growing its reach, market, and influence every year.
DMNDR was built as a responsive website application using PHP, MySQL, HTML5, and CSS3. For the administrator and server-side, we also used PHP. The frontend website was created using WordPress, HTML5, and CSS3.
