The 1986 DAWGS won 8 regular-season games,
including an early-season nailbiter in Columbia and the season-ending thriller
in Athens (with a broken scoreboard clock) against Tech. A tough,
last-second loss to Clemson and a bad day in Jacksonville kept this from being a
great season; but one of the all-time DAWG great wins occurred when the DAWGS
"shocked Auburn, in Auburn, and knocked 'em out of guess where."
Veteran QB's James Jackson and Wayne Johnson kept the offense humming; and when
linebackers John Brantley and Steve Boswell came up with huge plays late in the
Auburn game, "the whole conference just fainted dead away on their
whatchamacallit."
