By 1982, the Belue/Scott/Weaver class had left, but there was still plenty of talent between the hedges. QB John Lastinger and Herschel anchored the offense, and the defense--led by Freddie Gilbert, Terry Hoage, Mike Sanchez and Tony Flack--was stingy as ever. Except for one special game, these DAWGS didn't dominate too many of their opponents; all they did was win, and win, and win, all the way to another SEC Championship and Sugar Bowl appearance. ("...we haven't put anybody away until we came to this place, of all places....").
