1976 SEC CHAMPION UNDERDAWGS

 

6 straight regular-season wins to finish the ’75 season—including victories over rivals Florida, Auburn, and Tech—led to high expectations for the 1976 season.  Early wins over Cal and South Carolina set the tone; solid victories over Vandy , Kentucky, and tougher-than-expected Cincinnati set the stage for one of the great comebacks in DAWG history, in Jacksonville over revenge-minded Florida.  Classic wins over Auburn and Tech (in the fog) followed.  Here are the highlights of the 1976 season, featuring fierce defense and long runs from scrimmage by QB (later coach) Ray Goff.
